The developers who brought us Frozen Synapse, the cyberpunk game that redefined turn-based strategy, have announced their next game, Frozen Endzone.

The gameplay is similar, only rather than shooting enemy agents, you’ll be playing a friendly game of robot football. The strategy style actually fits perfectly with football. Frozen Synapse had you plan movement and actions of your characters at the same time as your opponent. When you hit play, both of your strategies played out.

The developers call it the “premier tactical future sports game,” noting it “combines the strategic depth of Frozen Synapse with an elegant interface, completely original creative gameplay and a thrilling futuristic aesthetic.”

Aside from the cool, cyberpunk-playbook strategy element, there are also obstacles on the playing field that give maps some added depth.

Frozen Endzone is set for a 2014 release, and you can vote for it on Steam Greenlight now.
