A wild trailer appeared! This one claims to be a reveal trailer for a Call of Duty 4 movie, set to release in Oct. 2013. Now, I’m not getting my hopes up—the trailer does have the ingredients of a clever fan-made joke on all of us, but it also looks convincing enough to get tagged with a “maybe” that has gotten it spread around the Web.

According to The Sixth Axis, the trailer appeared on unexpectedreveal.com (which isn’t displaying anything for me), and although its name servers are located in Russia, it is registered under Infinity Ward. Of course, they could have just written that in the form while registering the site. Who knows.

Activision said they would never make a movie of the franchise, and it’s also unlikely that any serious film would launch with a sequel number next to it when it is the first film in the franchise (except Star Wars, but we’ll let that slide).

For now, I’m saying this is a hoax. It has all the ingredients of a well-made joke, and has the Internet in an uproar. But enjoy it anyway. If there were a Modern Warfare film, it would probably look something like this.
