Tales of Games has had a great run on Kickstarter: Receiving their monetary goal of $35,000 in less than 48 hours.

Indie game development company Tales of Games has announced the sequel for their free-to-play hit, Barkley Shut up and Jam: Gaiden. Doubly absurd in its title:

Magical Realms of Tir a nOg: Escape from Necron 7: Revenge of Cuchulainn- The Official Game of the Movie- Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa, has earned nearly $50,000 in only two days, which is about 40 percent more than they asked for in the course of a month.

More commonly called Barkley 2, this is a top down Action-RPG with 16 bit- era graphics. They closely remind me of the Schwarzenegger True Lies game for the Super Nintendo (did anyone else play that?) Anyway, the developers promise a deep emphasis on exploration, randomly spawned guns, “a unique and erotic sense of humor,” as it says on their Kickstarter page, and my favorite: a personal experience where events, people, and places change over time. Very ambitious.

The game certainly promises a lot to the fans, the more you donate, the sweeter the reward. There are some original prizes for those willing to donate more than $10, which you should totally check out. Like a chance to take the place of a Tales of Games’ employee at an interview, or access to the ToG’s tip line.

Exploration , fast action combat, funny characters, Barkley 2 has in its package what every game needs to succeed. With a whole 27 days to receive more funding, the eager fans really should have no fear for the success of this upcoming title.

It looks like a really fresh game. Kind of reminds me of Shadowrun on the SNES. And yes, I played True Lies 🙂
