Today is a grand day in the history of RPGs, sure to be written in the annals of history when modern gamers and retro gamers finally sat down and looked each other in the eye with calm understanding. Today, Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was released, and is available at BeamDog for $19.99.

As the name suggests, this is not a new addition to the Baldur’s Gate universe, but rather a recharged version of the classic with more than 400 improvements, better multiplayer support, three new characters, better voice acting, and a new adventure of gladiator-like proportions: The Black Pits.

The enhanced edition also brings in some improvements from Baldur’s Gate 2: The Shadows of Amn, namely class kits, and subtraces and classes that weren’t around at the time of the original game’s 1998 release.

Ahhh Baldurs Gate one of the very few RPG games I seem to be magnetically attracted to ( I played a lot of dark alliance 1+2) always seems to have some sort of….old school aura surrounding it which makes me crave it every now and again.
