After an unexpected drop in earnings, Zynga is making some rather drastic overhauls.

Even “Farmville” may be in trouble!

Due to the rise in mobile devices and steep competition, the company is not only cutting staff but also sending 13 of their older original titles to the chopping block, Chief Executive Mark Pincus related in a recent staff memo. In addition to layoffs at their Austin and Boston offices, the company is considering closure of their Japan and British branches.

First to feel the pain would be Zynga’s more recent release of “The Ville” with other titles to follow.

This is interesting stuff because Zynga was seen as the flagship of social gaming companies. If they’re going out, it makes me wonder how the others are doing.

On another note though, I wonder if some of the lawsuits have anything to do with it. I know Maxis is saying Zynga stole a bunch of their ideas (which they did, lol).

I bet it has something to do with the lawsuits too. And they did steal those ideas.
Also, sounds like they spread themselves a little thin. Too many games.
