Obsidian teaser for mystery project.

If you head over to the Obsidian website right now, you’ll find the homepage has been taken over by a dragon ouroboros wrapped around a number 4, with the words, “What do the words mean?” “Nothing. The Dirge of Eir Glanfath is sound without form, a lone voice crying out in mourning because it must.”

The number 4 is probably our best hint here. So, what games has Obsidian made part 3 of? Well, Fallout 3 (if you don’t consider New Vegas as 4), and Dungeon Siege 3 (which they did for Square Enix).

Now, I would love to think this is a new Fallout game set in Asia (which could fit the dragon ouroboros), but that’s unlikely, given the text. “Dirge of Eir Glanfath” sounds wayyyyyy too Nordic to have this be another Fallout game… unless it’s Fallout with Vikings, which would be awesome.

So, given all the evidence, I’m personally concluding that this is a teaser for Dungeon Siege 4, which, given that part 3 game out in 2011 and knowing development times, would set this release for sometime in 2013 or early 2014, and would probably be the perfect time for another hack-and-slash dungeon crawler.

Agree with me? Think I’m a complete idiot? Let me know in the comments. There’s also a discussion on what this all means over at the Obsidian website, and some interesting points to boot.
