If one can think back far enough to their days as a toddler, they may remember the sleepless nights where imagination turned a nursery into an absolute world of nightmares. Shadows cast from mobiles and teddy bears were incarnated as “the boogey man”, and every sound emitted from the walls radiated with a horrifying screech of the unknown.

According to developers Krillbite Studio on the official site, ‘Among The Sleep’ casts players “…into the mind and body of a two year old child. After being put to bed one evening, mysterious things start to happen.” Seeing the environment through the eyes of a child will send players on quite a journey, especially when imagination manipulates reality.

As shown in the first gameplay trailer, players will take on the perspective of a child as they break free of the confines of their crib to investigate the chilling and supernatural occurrences that have deprived them from their slumber. As they make their way downstairs, they are startled by a skinny, almost demonic figure as it creeps past the kitchen door. Upon entering the kitchen, the lights begin to flicker as the whole room erupts in an all-out display of paranormal activity. Small enough to fit behind, on top, or and under most household furniture, players will have plenty of places to hide as they cower away from whatever it is that scares them most.

Granting players the opportunity to relive their childhood fears is sure to be a frightening, yet refreshing approach to the first-person horror genre. ‘Among The Sleep’ will be released on the PC and MAC sometime next year. Be sure to check out the trailer for yourself in the window below.
