Treyarch has recently announced that they will be releasing their fourth map pack for Call Of Duty: Black Ops. This is great news, especially for those of you who are fans of COD Zombies. The new map pack, ‘Rezurrection,’ will be completely focused around the Zombie gameplay made famous by the Call Of Duty franchise.

The new map pack will include the following:

  • The all new Moon level
  • Four re-mastered levels from the previous title, ‘Call Of Duty: World At War’: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese, the Zombie factory that started it all
  • An enhanced Zombies Soundtrack including three tracks never before available for purchase
  • A new Zombies Moon theme for your dashboard

In the new map, ‘Moon’, players will be subject to a Zombie outbreak like never before. The map will take place on a remote space station that has been overrun by a hoard of zombies. Players will will be equipped with a whole new set of weapons including a very curious looking device that makes the zombies inflate until their bodies explode. Also noted from the trailer is the ability to dual wield a new set of weapons. This will definitely come in handy in tough situations. The map will give players plenty of space to roam, including a labyrinth of caves, structures, and the open space of the final frontier. Being in outer space, the map will put players into the fight in a low gravity environment. The concept of “floating and gunning” will prove to be a new and innovative style of Zombie gameplay. ‘Moon’ sounds like a very promising map that will set the bar for any future COD Zombie maps.

The Call Of Duty fans that happened to purchase the Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Edition of the game will receive a bit of incentive in their decision to upgrade their game package. For those fortunate souls, this map pack will be completely free of charge when it releases later this month. Owners of the Hardened or Prestige Editions  should already own the four original maps so the ‘Moon’ map, the Zombie theme, and the Zombie soundtrack will all be available for download via the XBOX LIVE marketplace.

If you do not own either the Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Edition, Rezurrection will be available for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15 USD). The ‘Rezurrection’ map pack will be available later this month on 08-23-2011 for the XBOX360 gaming platform. Based off the other map packs, I believe it is safe to say that the map pack will be released around 3A.M. PT on the release date. The pack will be released at a later date on the Playstation 3 and PC gaming platforms, the dates have yet to be announced.
