Capcom gave another peek at its upcoming game, Street Fighter X Tekken, revealing six new the characters making an appearance.
So far, characters will include Ryu (of course), Chun-Li, Abel, Guile, Ken, Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, and Bob. Personally, I’m still hoping to see Yoshimitsu and Eddy Gordo, but there’s no sign of them yet.
There is currently no release date, but the game was first announced by Capcom on July 24, 2010. Capcom stated it would “make history” as the game brings together characters from both the Tekken and Street Fighter franchises for the first time. So far, it’s lined up for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Street Fighter X Tekken will use the same technology behind Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV to bring Tekken characters into the game. Capcom stated they will be “retaining their unique characteristics and signature moves as they go head-to-head with classic brawlers from the Street Fighter franchise in what promises to be the ultimate match up.”
The game will be on a 2D battlefield, but will have 3D characters and models. So far, game modes will include Versus, Training, and Tag Team.
During the original announcement at Comic-Con in 2010, Yoshinori Ono, producer of Street Fighter X Tekken stated:
This is history we’re making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn’t just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I’m going to give it my all.
